The consensus is that a scripting language of some sort for crossfire would be very nice. Beyond that, nothing's been decided. Furthermore, no one has volunteered to spearhead this project, so in practice, it has gone nowhere. I personally would be happiest if it were python. Many who would script are not veteran programmers and perl is, I believe, much harder to learn than python. I also like python better because I think it is far more readable. In any case, scripting ought to wait at least a few weeks, until crossfire 1.0 is out.
