Well actually it IS logging in, but it works:
     
     mids at debian
     
     :~$ telnet mids.student.utwente.nl 13327

quit
Connection closed by foreign host.


You can also enter the command 'oldsocketmode'
it doesnt work well, but you then can use some other commands like
'who' 'hiscore' and probably 'shout'.
