All those messages above are just debugging, and can be ignored.

Only the server gets 'compiled'. Note that the make install only
installs the servers components.

The arch's get collected. But the CVS contains up to date collected
versions. You only need the archs (and need to collect them) if you are
customizing them.

Nope - unrelated. Note that the 'easiest' thing to do is either have a
copy of the CVS maps in the datadir, or make a symlink from there to
wherever your maps are. The make install won't update the maps.

Not familiar with that spot - I wouldn't think it should be related.

Maps-bigworld is sort of work in progress. Eventually, it should
replace the maps distribution . The main change is that the world map is
much bigger (roughly 30 times in each direction, or 900 times total).
Means wandering from one side to the other is more of a real adventure.
I've played around with it some, and presuming the character has
reasonable speed, the travel times still are not very great, but at
least you are now having to move several hundred spaces - there is a
feeling of distance and scale that doesn't really exist in the old
(small) maps.

Those comments are old. At one time, changing the config option was
necessary for using the bigworld mapset. Now days, just leave the
emergency path the default, and if you use the bigworld one, the server
will pick up the .emergency file and reset the emergency coordinates as
appropriate.

maps (small) is more complete. As said above, eventual plan is for
maps-bigworld to replace these. However, there are still many maps that
are not linked in the maps-bigworld. I do that as I have time, but its
a little more work than a simple copy paste to do it right (need to
clean up terrain immediately around city, add roads, etc). Once I
finish with the cities, the adding the misc dungeons should be pretty
easy however.
