  There is no way to convert the existing darkness value to an ambiant light 
level (other than to just convert them it to ambiant_light 0, or when the case 
is darkness value == max darkness level).

  The question might really be whether this is any reason to keep the existing 
darkness value and/or if a different meaning of the field is desired.
