If the raiseChild core dumps the client on sigpipe event, i'd like to know about. More specifically, i'd like to get a bt trace, that's strange. The rel-1-7-0 (head) has default sound device as /dev/dsp, I changed that to #define AUDIODEV "plughw:0,0" Prevents the crash, but sounds sound weird now.
