Currently many players clear the random maps (notably the training center in scorn) to gain experience. And quite a few players do not even bother to explore the world. I'd like to encourage players to adventure (outside the training center) by making the random maps less attractive. I think the random maps are currently very attractive due to: 1. Random maps give lots of experience (see table "current experience" below) but they do not contain much dangers because they do not contain many different monsters and are very regular maps. Note that the top six maps in the table are all random maps; all of them give considerably more experience than the quite hard warrior proving tower. 2. Many random maps are easily accessible. Especially the training center in scorn is no problem to reach even for a low level character. 3. Most random maps do get harder only up to some point. After that point the encountered monsters do not change anymore. To compensate for the missing dangers I'd like to reduce the experience you get for killing monsters in random maps. My proposal is to reduce it by a factor of 1/20. The resulting experience is listed below in table "experience after monster exp/20 modification". To accomplish this I'd like to change the server code but not the monsterstyle files because changing the server code affects all random maps, including not yet created maps. Therefore this problem would not appear again (but a map maker can still customize the monsterstyle files). Point 2. seems to be fixed for the training center now by simply removing the random maps from the game. Nevertheless, I'll include the experience values in the tables below.
