Both BSD and GPL are based on the definition of "source" and "binary" forms of
the product. Those definition are unsuitable for work like visual art,
because defining what the "source" and the "binary" forms of a picture are is
just about impossible and questionable. That's the reason why the FSF
invented the GFDL for written documentation instead of using the GPL, for
example: the application of the GPL to such works was simply too difficult.
Besides that, the BSD licence is not compatible with the GPL and I don't agree
with its terms, so that would have been a no-no even if it was applicable to
a picture.
One may of course nit-pick about complex ways of defining the "source" and the
"binaries" of a visual artwork - but relying on obscure interpretations of a
license to protect your work is definitely a bad strategy.
