I believe (but could be wrong) that both the gtk and gtk-v2 client basically
use the standard system font - they are not going through extra hoops to mess
with font size.
That said, the default system font may very well not be usable on a low
resolution screen.
Note that a while back, I added theme support to the gtk-v2 client. So using
a different font may just be as simple as making a new theme with different font
settings.
