Those are very nice ideas and I´d love to see them realized.

Sure, but all you need to do is type "save" and you´re settled.
I really can´t think of any use for savebeds that do not update the
"home position". Hence, I believe that half-working savebeds would
only confuse players.

For saving/respawning in RPGs I have never seen much else rather than
inns or churches. But feel free to put savebeds wherever you want, as long
as it´s a secure place in a city. =)
