Haven't actually patched / compiled & tried, but looks ok at reading.

The C++-like comments in global.h are not supposed to be seen by Linux, as they 
are enclosed in #ifdef WIN32 :) But fixing is not bad (i fixed'em in some other 
patch i submitted)
