Granted, that's a high level spell, so it'd take a > while to write'em :) nightfall might not be the best example. Because it is a spell with no duration, currently a player can already do that right now (cast as many nightfalls as you can, leave the map, pray, go back on the map and cast nightfall until completely dark). One could argue this is more a problem with the nightfall spell than the fact it can be put on scrolls. But certainly there are other spells where having a bunch might be a problem. It's my belief that all the special spells should still be balanced - they can be a bit more powerful, but it shouldn't be the case that the spell is twice as good (however you can quantitatively measure spells) than something else. Rather, they are special in that you only get them if you worship the appropriate god or do the appropriate quest. So having them in scroll form shouldn't really be a lot more abusive, unless the spell right now is out of balance. > Couldn't we use some unused field in the arthetype? But more so, what is an unused field right now might become a used field later on. So its better to just set up an appropriate flag - easier to understand, and no worry down the road. Now at least for god given spells, I realized that it is easy to know if they were god given or normally learned. So it wouldn't be hard to make it so you can't inscribe god given spells. But something different, like a flag, would need to be added for those. Note also that with the new spell code, it is very easy to make spell derivations (it just a change in the object you put in a spellbook or the like). _______________________________________________ crossfire-devel mailing list crossfire-devel at lists.real-time.com https://mailman.real-time.com/mailman/listinfo/crossfire-devel
