Putting aside the fact that crossfire.metalforge.net is basically a
test server I wish to disagree with this point. I find that the more
I look around on the "wasteland" the more I come to recognize certain
landmark features. I have managed to notice MEMORIZABLE features that
I now use to get to several locations with 100% accuracy. The maps
are not "random", they are static. Look at them in the map editor if
you want to see that they are not all just alike and do have features
one can recognize. Just don't go trying to explore the big world when
it is dark. :-)

That said, I do agree the big world is rather empty. If it bothers
you this badly then pick a big map square out in the wilderness and
put something interesting on it with the map editor. Then submit it
for review. The map editor runs with Java and is not difficult to use
at all. I use it all the time to examine how some maps are put
together.
