Just by way of further explanation - one reason I think adding weight to the wall object is the proper way to do this is that different wall spells could be of different weights so you would have more options. You could have a wall of smoke that is quite easy to blow away with a windstorm, or a wall of stone which is pretty much immobile (well maybe a level 90 wave of water would move it?). Naturally you could have a heavy wall of a light object by customizing the arch (say for a fire wall you want to be very strong) as well.
