So long as the scroll objects and the container use the same new race field this is real easy to do.  Make a scroll object to write notes, in set the race to journal then create a container called a journal with the race set to journal and there you go.  The hardest part would be if you wanted to convert some existing notes in maps to the journal race and not others.
