Player IP's are not displayed by default. However, a server admin has the ability to specify which players can view player IP's with the who command. I know from experience that it's been helpful in tracking down hacked password issues with a character - I was able to login and ask certain players what IP <character> connected from and then proceed from there. Basically, it saved me alot of time and did not force me to camp online.
