I also think you only saved the player files (*.pl) and not the player map files in same directory. Just check your players/<someplayername>/ directory and see if it contains anything else than the <someplayername>.pl If it contains the maps, then one possiblity would be you have switched at the reinstall from bigworld to smallworld or vice-versa.
